Charles "Ned" Hancock, age 82, passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at Magnolia Manor. Graveside services are scheduled at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus, GA on Thursday, July 19, 2018, 3 p.m. with Dr. Douglas Fowler officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby, Columbus.
Mr. Hancock, son of the late Henry Virgil Hancock and Edith Ruth Page Hancock, was born November 18, 1935 in Columbus. Before coming to Columbus, he was the former Owner and Operator of Essco, Tullahoma, Tennessee, (an office equipment an supply company) where he served the community for over 28 years, retiring in 2001. Before owning his business, Mr. Hancock faithfully worked at Arnold AFB from 1963 till 1973, where he served as a photographer of Air Force aircraft engines. Before he entered the business world, he served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy reserves. Mr. Hancock had a strong passion towards photography, and spent quality time hunting and fishing. He was a man that showed kindness to everyone, never met a stranger, and enjoyed conversations with people.
Mr. Hancock is survived by his wife of 62 years, Janie Hancock; one son, Charles Nelson Hancock, Jr. of Henderson, Texas; one daughter, Janet C. Jones of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; one granddaughter, Beth Michelle Lackey and her husband Lee of Efland, North Carolina; one great-grandson, Richard Eli Lackey; one sister, Betty Jo Williams of Columbus; many other relatives and friends.
