Charles "Chuck" McEldoon

Charles “Chuck” McEldoon, age 71, resident of Columbus, died on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at St. Francis Hospital.

Memorial services will be held at the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus on Friday, October 5, 2012, 3 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service on Friday, October 5, 2012 from 1:30- 3:00 p.m. Inurnment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery.

Mr. McEldoon, son of the late Paul James McEldoon and Leona Smith McEldoon, was born October 16, 1940 in Mason City, IA. Mr. McEldoon was employed by W.C. Bradley for several years. He then began working at Gentian Oaks Apartments where he was manager for many years, and later worked at Hilton Hotel until his retirement. Mr. McEldoon attended New Hope Revival Center.

He was preceded in death by his brother, James McEldoon. Mr. McEldoon is survived by his wife of 49 years, Gloria McEldoon of Columbus; two sons, Danny McEldoon and his wife Stacee of Peachtree City, GA and David McEldoon and his wife Tara of Pine Mountain, GA; three sisters, Ruth Ann Knoll of Mason City, IA, Karen Humphrey and her husband Bob of Clear Lake, IA, and Paula Juhl and her husband Doug of Leland, NC; five granddaughters, Anslee, Mollie, Kyndall, Tristyn, and Ava Grace; one grandson, Luke Greyson; other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the American Heart Association, 1639 Bradley Park Dr. Suite 500, Columbus, GA 31904.

I'M SORRY ABOUT CHUCK. I WAS A PAPER BOY FOR THE GLOBE WHEN I KNEW CHUCK BACK IN THE DAY, HE WOULD BRING THE PAPERS TO YOUR HOUSE AND DROP THEM OFF IN CLEAR LAKE ON SOUTH SHORE DR. AND SOMETIMES HIS BOYS ROAD WITH HIM.
MUST OF BEEN AROUND 1970 OR 71.

I worked w/Chuck many years aga,but have not forgotten his many upbeat statements and attitude, Always focus on the positive.
He was a nice gentleman.
