Charles McKinney, age 69, resident of Columbus, died on Monday, November 14, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital. Graveside services are scheduled at Parkhill Cemetery on Thursday, November 17, 2011 at 1 pm. Mr. McKinney, son of the late Homer Edwin and Nellie McKinney, was born January 9, 1942 in Columbus, GA. He was an Army veteran, serving his country honorably for 10 years with military service both stateside and overseas in Vietnam and Germany. He was retired from the Columbus Consolidated Government where he served faithfully for 31 years. Mr. Kinney was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Brown and a niece, Hazel Dixon. He is survived by one niece, Lisa Gibson of Columbus; two nephews, Joe Brown and his wife Annette of Columbus and Robert Brown and his wife Joann of Mauk, GA; several great-nieces and great-nephews; other relatives and friends.
