Columbus, GA- Charley Franklin Thornell, 56, of Columbus, GA, passed away Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Midtown Medical Center in Columbus. Charley was born May 26, 1957 in Alexander City, AL, to the late Jacob Thornell and Mary Bruton Thornell.

A combined Celebration of Life and visitation service will be Friday, January 17, 2014 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. EST in the Mill Room of Strifffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon RD., Columbus, GA, with Rev Roger Morrison officiating. A private committal service with Air Force Honors will be held Saturday, January 18, 2014 11:00 a.m. CST/ 12:00 EST at Union Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Rockford, AL, with Rev Edward Brown officiating.

Mr. Thornell is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by Doris Thornell, his daughter; Jennifer (Dustan) Strickland of Bonneau, SC, his son; Michael (Melissa) Thornell of Columbus, GA, his daughter; Jamie (Victor) Rourk, his son; Andrew (Danielle) Webber, 3 brothers; Phillip (Faye) Thornell of Talladega, AL, David (Linda) Thornell of Columbus, GA, and Jacob

(Elizabeth) Thornell, Jr. of Montgomery, AL, 2 sisters; Sharon (Tony) Woodard of Columbus, GA, and Myra McGill of Alexander City, AL, and many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
