Cheryl Dillard, 68, of Columbus, GA passed away Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Piedmont Midtown Medical Center. Private funeral services will be held Tuesday with Rev. Kevin Calhoun officiating. The family will receive friends Monday, December 10, 2018 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Striffler-Hamby of Columbus.
Ms. Dillard was born November 8, 1950 in Columbus, GA at City Hospital, the daughter of the late Albert and Wynelle Kemp. She went to Columbus High School. After graduating, she would attend Georgia Southwestern and Columbus College focusing in Political Science. She would go on to meet the love of her life Frank Dillard at the Georgia Visitors Center. After he wrecked his bicycle she patched him up, and that is when it all started. This led to forty amazing years together. Through the years she had success in the business world, but her pride came from being a mother and grandmother. Once being the VP of C&S Bank in Dublin, GA to becoming the top sells person in the nation for Nestle. People would describe her as quick witted and very intuitive. She was an avid Auburn Football fan and you would never catch her without a glass of her beloved SWEET tea. Being a grandmother was a major milestone for her, and she wanted her granddaughter to call her Grammy. Her granddaughter Audrey had other ideas and came up with the name “Gum”.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband, Franklin Lee Dillard; two children, Franklin Lee Dillard II (Alicia), Cassie Kemp Mack (Jordan), one grandchild, Audrey Marie Dillard.
