
Clara Melissa Carver McGee, "MIZ", of Seale. AL passed away Friday October 24. 2014 at her home. She was born January 1, 1924 in Pittsburgh, Pa to the late Smiley Cyril Carver and the late Violet Melissa Underwood Carver. She grew up in Ashville, NC -- attended Western Carolina Teachers College, and received her RN degree from Duke University School of Nursing.
She was involved with her children in Scouting, and was a volunteer at local hospitals as a "Pink Lady". Clara was an avid reader, a "Rainbow Warrior" who studiously followed the NASCAR Sprint Cup Chase, and regularly supervised the comings and goings on the International Space Station via the NASA television feed. She loved her family and friends and will be missed by all.
Along with her parents, Mrs. McGee is preceded in death by her husband Jack McGee and son Ted McGee. She is survived by two daughters, Melissa Keshishian of Washington DC, and Patricia Knott of Seale, AL, one son, Andrew McGee of Seale, AL, seven grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday, November 1, 2014, 11:00 AM - 12:30PM Eastern time in the Mill Room of Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA, followed by a graveside service conducted by Pastor Robert Rhodes of Cottonton Baptist Church, at Parkhill Cemetery at 1:00 PM.
