

Claudia Huffenberger went to be with the Lord on March 28, 2014 in Pensacola, Florida. The family will receive friends at 11:00 to 12:30 at Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia with funeral service at 12:30 PM with Reverend David Johnson officiating, followed by interment beside her daughter, Teresa, at the Main Post cemetery, Fort Benning, GA. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the American Heart Association. Claudia was born April 10, 1941 to former Georgia Senator and Chattahoochee County Sheriff, Nollie Edward and Claudia Moore Wright of Cusseta, Chattahoochee County, Georgia. Claudia lived in Cusseta through her childhood and was married to John E Huffenberger Jr. on September 6, 1959. She, as the wife of a United States Army Officer, accompanied him on assignments in the States and to Germany and Korea. John was medically retired from the Army in 1982. Claudia had her own career as a manager in the Army and Air Force Exchange Service with positions in Fort Polk, LA; Austin, Del Rio, and San Antonio, Texas; Simmons and Karlsruhe Germany, willingly serving where the Exchange Service determined that her service was needed. She retired from the Army and Air Force Exchange System on June 30, 1993, in grade UA 12, after more than 21 years of service. She made her home in San Antonio, Texas for more than 30 years before moving to Pensacola, FL in 2006. Claudia is survived by her daughter, Pamela Jane Reece and her husband Jeff; grandchildren Kaitlin Huffenberger (Wollney), Holly Lynn Huffenberger, John Edward Huffenberger, Jack Ellis Huffenberger, and Nathaniel Reece; two great grandchildren; all of San Antonio Sisters, Dorothy Roberts of Columbus, GA and Stella Joyce Tovey of Cusseta, GA. Claudia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John E Huffenberger Jr.; her daughter, Teresa Lynn Huffenberger; her son, Paul Jeffery Huffenberger; brothers, Charlie Donald Wright and Eugene Talmadge Wright; and sister Marjorie Wright Fontenot. Claudia will truly be missed by all who knew her. May her memory remain with us for years to come.
