Clinton Ray Austin

Clinton built his life with the steady hands and quiet pride of a craftsman. He worked as a master carpenter and builder for 10 years at Eastern Airlines, bringing care, precision, and reliability to his work—qualities that also shaped the way he lived and loved.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years before her passing in 2011, Arlene Governale Austin of Columbus, GA; his parents, Wallace C. and Ineta Jewell Austin of Columbus, GA; and his brother, Billy Frank Austin of Prattville, AL.

He is survived by his children, Pamela L. Barnaby (Craig) of Cumming, GA, Darrin Clint Austin (Sandra) of Atlanta, GA, and Brenda J. Austin of Shelbyville, TN; his granddaughters, Madison Barnaby of Auburn, AL and Elle Austin of Atlanta, GA; his grandsons, Caleb Austin and Brooks Austin of Atlanta, GA; his brother, Jack L. Austin of Florence, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Clinton found deep contentment in simple, hands-on pursuits and the honest satisfaction of work well done. He enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson, working on his red tractor, fishing, shooting, woodworking, boating, and photography. He especially loved polka music and the lively international culture of Miami, a place that always felt like home to him.

Above all, he adored his family. His presence was steady and kind, and he made time for each of his children and grandchildren, offering a dependable strength and a love that was felt in everyday moments. He will be remembered for his quiet strength, his love of the outdoors and meaningful projects, and the faithful way he cared for those closest to him.
