Clyde Sapp Murray passed away on Friday, October 27, 2023. Clyde was born in Columbus, Ga on June 12, 1928 to a loving family who helped her develop a strong character and work ethic. She graduated in 1947 from Central High School, Phenix City, Alabama, as a proud alumna where she was head cheerleader. She continued to be involved in alumni activities with her former classmates throughout her life.
She met the love of her life, Bill Murray, in second grade. She didn’t know it then but he finally convinced her and they were married on March 18, 1950 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Columbus, Ga. They were happily married for 73 years.
She and Bill resided and worked in Columbus and together they raised three beautiful children, Glenn, Sara, and Steve. She was fiercely loyal to her family and her life revolved around their welfare and happiness. She and Bill retired in 1993 and she enjoyed traveling the world, clogging, gardening and church activities at St. Mark UMC in Columbus.
In 2015, she and Bill moved to Cypress Village Retirement community in Jacksonville, Fla where she continued being active in church, bridge and other social activities. So many were drawn to Clyde’s kindness, warmth, infectious smile, and the most genuine spirit. She was kindness personified and will be missed by so many.
