Earl Lennard Suggs was born May 13, 1952 as the sixth child of Benjamin Suggs Sr. and Julia Mae Suggs. After graduating from Thompson High School in Savannah, Georgia, he enlisted into the United States Marine Corps. Earl Suggs was a career marine with 30 years of dedicated service to the Corps. During this time he attended the Army's Sergeant Major Academy, graduating top of his class. Shortly after, he would rise to the rank of Sergeant Major, a rank achieved by less than one percent of all Marine enlisted personnel.
After retiring from the Marine Corps in 2001, he continued to serve as a Navy JROTC instructor for McEachern high school in Powder Springs, Georgia, just outside of Atlanta. There, he would spend eight years training, developing, and mentoring future leaders.
After retiring from the military, he also attended Reinhardt University where he earned a Bachelor in Arts in Business in 2006.
