Connie Hearn Clark, 88, of Fortson, Georgia went to be with her Lord on December 15, 2025. She was born on February 28, 1937, to the late Thelma Irene Whetstone Hearn and Andrew Franklin Hearn. Connie was a Jordan Vocational High School graduate where she was an oboist in the school’s orchestra and was a majorette in the “Red Jacket Band”. After completing high school, she attended the University of Georgia on an oboe scholarship where she started work on a degree in education. After marrying her true love, Phillip Baldwin Clark, Sr. in the summer of 1957, she transferred to the University of Alabama where she continued her work towards a bachelor’s degree in education. Later, she attended Auburn University where she completed her bachelor’s degree and her master’s degree in education. She also attended Columbus State University where she completed her 6-year certificate in Education. Connie was an Educator for 26 years with the Muscogee County School District and then 10 years with Columbus Technical College. She was the loving wife of Phillip Baldwin Clark, Sr., for 68 years.
Connie lived her life as a testimony to her Lord Jesus Christ. She was a Sunday school teacher, youth minister, and youth choir director at Mount Zion Baptist church. Connie organized, directed, and toured gospel cantatas to several Baptist churches in the state of Georgia. She has been a member of Wynnbrook Baptist Church for 34 years where she played oboe in the church’s orchestra and passionately supported the Wynnbrook Christian School.
Connie’s loving memory will be cherished by her husband, Phillip B. Clark, Sr.; sons: Phillip B. Clark, Jr. (Karen), Chester Arthur “Art” Clark (Adonna), and Andrew H. Clark (Sherri); grandchildren: Phillip B. Clark, III (Esther), Aynsley C. Wilson (Kyle), Albert Carter Woolfolk, Jr. (Amanda), William Z. Woolfolk, Frances R. Woolfolk, Connie A. McCartney (Brent), Jesse Clark (Breanna), Julia M. Clark, and Mary E. Clark; great-grandchildren: Wyatt Lee Wilson, Bo Warren Wilson, Abigail Clark, Phillip Clark, IV, Michael C. Hughes, Emma K. Nichelson, Maesyn McCartney, and Asa Clark; and other family members and friends.
Connie’s family will visit with friends and family on Thursday, December 18th, 2025 from 1:30 PM until 3:00 PM in Fisher Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907. A service to celebrate Connie’s life will begin at 3:00 PM with Reverend Dr. Kevin Calhoun officiating. Burial will be in Parkhill Cemetery following the service.
