Dale was born on August 27, 1939 in Columbus, Georgia, and was the eldest of two children of Rudolph S. Stanley and Doris June Monte. While she was a youngster, her father was in active Army service and the family lived in several different states and cities, and also Germany, eventually returning to Columbus to settle down.
As a teenager, Dale attended Columbus High School and graduated in 1957. She attended secretarial school and worked at various companies, eventually working for Columbus State College (now University).
Between 1958 and 1985, she married and divorced twice and had three children, a girl and two boys. During those years the family lived in Florida, first in Ft. Lauderdale and later in St. Petersburg. After her second divorce, Dale returned with her youngest son to live in Columbus and resumed working for Columbus State University (CSU).
Dale was a loving and conscientious mother, especially with her son Kenneth. She loved cats, homemaking, baking, and cooking. She built a comfortable life for her and Kenneth. She retired from CSU after 17 years and moved into her dream house in a quiet neighborhood.
She passed away peacefully in her sleep in the comfort of her home surrounded by her children on September 30, 2026, in Columbus, Georgia at the age of 87.
Dale is survived by her three children, Cynthia K. Moncrief of Gainesville, FL; John A. McLaughlin Jr. of San Jose, CA; and Kenneth R. McLaughlin of Columbus, GA; her brother Rudolph Sexton Stanley Jr. of Destin, FL; and a first cousin Beverly L. Watson of Ocala, FL.
There may be a private Celebration of Life to be held at a later date.
