Darrel Samuel Miller Sr., age 69, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2021. A visitation for family and friends of Darrel will be held Sunday, January 2, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia. A celebration of Darrel's life will be held on Monday, January 3, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia.
Darrel was born on January 2, 1952 in Queens, N.Y.; the son of Manuel Joel Miller and Bernice Maxine Miller. He graduated from Plainedge High School in Massapequa, N.Y. Darrel joined the U.S. Army in 1973 and served until he retired in 1996, he achieved the rank of 1st Sargent and was a Parachute Rigger. Darrel married Rhonda Ann Buttry in Okinawa, Japan on May 30, 1975. He always enjoyed cooking and went to school and became a chef. He owned the 27th Grill in Pine Mountain, GA for 18 years. He enjoyed riding is Harley Davidson and going to Bike Week in Daytona. Darrel was a straightforward kind of guy, you always knew where you stood with him. He was a 2nd Degree Black Belt and was a member of Won’s Martial Arts Academy. He loved his family and cherished the time he spent with them, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include: his daughter, Shelley Miller; his sons D.J. Miller, Bryan Miller; grandchildren, Carson “Car Car” Miller, Kaylee “Bo Bo” Miller, Lawson Singleton; brother, Dale Miller; and numerous friends and friends of the family that will cherish his memory.
