SFC (Ret) David Lloyd Jones

SFC (Ret) David Lloyd Jones, age 77, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.

David was born January 3, 1942 in New Madrid, Missouri to Willa Evelyn Laughorn Jones and William Benjamin Jones. He was married to his loving wife, Barbara R. Wellner in 1965. David faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army for over 20 years and was a two tour Vietnam Veteran. After his retirement from the Army and the United States Postal Service, David continued to serve and honor his fellow veterans as Commander and Service Officer through the DAV (Disabled American Veterans). He enjoyed playing golf, traveling and spending time with family and friends. David will be greatly missed by all who knew him and especially loved him.

David is survived by his loving wife, Barbara R. Jones; daughter, Denise Lynn Jones Mann and her husband Jack; daughter, Lori Ann Tideback and her wife Molly; grandson, Kyle S. Mann and his wife Kayla; grandson, Tyler J. Mann; granddaughter, Courtney G. Duggan; grandson, Joseph D. Duggan; great grandson, Elias J. Mann; great granddaughter, Lennon M. Mann; grandson, Colton Greenlee; granddaughter, Millie Kate Greenlee; brother, Earnest "Corky" Jones; sisters: Frances Griffin, Brenda Jones and Jody Jones.

David was preceded in death by his parents, William Benjamin Jones and Willa Evelyn Laughorn Jones; brother, Benjamin Jones and sister, Anita Jones.

A visitation for family and friends for David will be held Saturday, August 10, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, Georgia. A celebration of SFC (Ret) David Lloyd Jones will occur Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, Columbus, Georgia with Elder Willie Hunter officiating. Burial will follow in Parkhill Cemetery with full military honors.
