David Joel Kimbro, age 53, resident of Russell County, Alabama, passed away on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at his residence. Funeral services are scheduled at Lakewood Baptist Church, Phenix City, Alabama on Friday, September 7, 2018, 11 a.m. (Eastern Standard Time) with Reverend M.R. Hamilton and Reverend Charles Keown officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby, Columbus. The family will receive friends at Lakewood Baptist Church on Thursday, September 6, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time) Private interment will follow the funeral service in Parkhill Cemetery.
Mr. Kimbro, son of David Kimbro and Elizabeth Anne Morgan Kimbro, was born January 21, 1965 in Columbus. He was employed at TSYS in Columbus for the past 29 years. Mr. Kimbro was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church and was active in the orchestra, where he played lead trumpet. He was also a member of the Bob Barr Community Band of Columbus. Mr. Kimbro enjoyed working in his shop, where he was restoring a Camaro, and also enjoyed making beautiful wood furniture for the family.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Renee Curry Kimbro; four children, Johnathan David Kimbro, James Douglas Kimbro, Jason Morgan Kimbro, and Carrie Anne Kimbro; two sisters, Vicki Elizabeth Kimbro Moore (Ronald) and Patrisha Anne Kimbro Rahenkamp (Michael); two nieces, Jessica Ann Martin White (Zachery), and Kathryn Elizabeth Martin George (Matthew); and many other family members.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Joel Kimbro Memorial Orchestra Fund, Lakewood Baptist Church, 4011 Lakewood Drive, Phenix City, Alabama 36867.
