Doris Newman December 15, 1941 - October 6, 2010 COLUMBUS, GA— Doris "Dot" Newman, 68, of Columbus, GA died Wednesday October 6, 2010 at Columbus Hospice House. Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday October 8, 2010 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907. Reverend Paul Thomas will officiate. The family will receive friends today from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Newman was born December 15, 1941 in Berlin, Germany daughter of the late Walter George and Erika Heinrich George. She was a master cosmetologist and had worked for Continental Hair Salon. Survivors include her son, Frank Newman of Columbus, her sister, Christel (Hans) Weiss of Canada, her brother, Horst (Lillian) George of Germany. In lieu of flowers, make contributions to the John B. Amos Cancer Center, 1831-5th Avenue, Columbus, GA 31904 or to the Columbus Hospice House, 7020 Moon Road, Columbus, GA 31909 in memory of Doris "Dot" Newman.
