

Doris Goodwin Sawyer, 93, passed away on Monday, August 8, 2016. Cryptside services are scheduled at the Chapel of Pines Mausoleum, Parkhill Cemetery, on Wednesday, August 10, 2016, 2 p.m. with Reverend Tony Crosby officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby, Columbus. The family will receive friends immediately after the service at the mausoleum.
Mrs. Sawyer was born in Butler, Georgia to the late William and Thelma Goodwin. She was a homemaker and caregiver who enjoyed her family, cooking, quilting, and painting. Mrs. Sawyer was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lemuel Sawyer, Jr. and sister, Wynell Goodwin Jones.
She is survived by her son, Steve Sawyer; three grandchildren, Libby Morris, Jennifer (Kevin) Mallory, and Zack (Angela) Sawyer; six great-grandchildren, Sawyer Morris, Mary Ellis Morris, John Michael Mallory, Braden Mallory, Hadley Sawyer, and Caleb Sawyer; in-laws, Ron (Betty) Sawyer, Mike (Linda) Sawyer, Fay Osteen, and Judy Piccirillo; several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staffs of the Gardens at Calvary, Magnolia Manor-East (Unit S2), and Gentiva Hospice.
