Visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday February 22, 2022 from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Columbus, Georgia. A funeral service will be at 3:00 PM following the visitation with Reverend Dr. Ricky Smith and Reverend Dr. Don Wilhite officiating. Interment services will follow in Parkhill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Calvary Christian School, 7556 Old Moon Rd, Columbus, GA 31909 to assist with tuition.
Ms. Dot was born on March 4, 1927 in Jackson, Georgia. One of three daughters to Maggie Jones Smith and Lewis Smith. Ms. Dot was a loving Mom, MeMaw, Sister and Aunt who loved to share hugs with everyone. She was Christian by faith and a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church of Columbus, Georgia. Ms. Dot’s love for her Lord and Savior was shown through her for others with her ministry to her community. She would visit and minister to those in local nursing homes, assisted living facilities and those not able to attend church. Ms. Dot loved people and they loved her, especially her family. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her children: Jerry Smarr, David (Nancy) Smarr, and Pam Smarr Driver; her grandchildren: Jason Smarr, Brian (Jessi) Driver, and Shawn (Jamie) Driver; her great grandchildren: Averie Driver, Jack Driver, Max Driver, Brayden Driver, Bryce Driver, and Logan Driver; her sister, Mary Ruth Parker of Jackson, GA; niece Sharon (Mark) Hayes; nephews Tony Parker and Greg Cook; and other family members. Ms. Dot is preceded in death by her parents, Maggie and Lewis Smith and her sister Peggy Smith Cook.
