Douglas Johnson

Douglas Johnson passed away on March 7, 2026, at the age of 91. Born on August 14, 1934, in Harris County, Georgia, Douglas was a resident of Box Springs, Georgia. A Visitation will be held at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia, on Sunday, March 15, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 12:50 pm; Funeral Services will follow at 1:00 pm.

Douglas married Eva Lou to whom he was married to for 34 years. Douglas served his country when duty called in the United States Army. He worked at Vulcan Materials Company for 50 years. Douglas was Baptist and a faithful member of his church. Family and friends of Douglas knew he loved to sing, he was always helping others, and on Saturday’s he was grilling at his house.

Douglas is preceded in death by: his wife, Eva Lou Johnson; and his sister Colleen Johnson.

Survivors include: his daughter; Carolyn Williams; a son, Dock Brown; a daughter, Margaret Elaine Johnson; a son, Wendell Johnson; a daughter, Denise Dixon; a son, Fenton Dixon; granddaughter, Chevon Brown; great granddaughter, Nicaria Brown; great grandson, Jymari Williams, great grandaughter, Ziahni Ceasar; a sister, Margie Ware; a sister, Shirley Herring; a brother, David Johnson; and a niece, Charzetta McKerney.
