
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at Pinehurst Baptist Church with Dr. Tony Dickerson and Reverend Dennis Jennings officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, GA. Interment to follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends this evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Barnes was born in Phenix City, AL on July 9, 1932 to the late Ernest Barnes and Callie Wilkes Barnes. He lived in Columbus for the past 59 years and was an Amateur Radio Operator. He was an active member of Pinehurst Baptist Church and was a U.S Army Veteran having served in the Korean Conflict. Mr. Barnes was retired from Allis Chambers Forklift Company.
Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Patricia Anne Barnes of Columbus, his six children, Edward Eugene Barnes and wife Siri, Deborah Barnes Panell and husband Larry, Rebekah Hollander and husband Bill, Brenda C. Hunter and husband Tim, Timothy Ervin Barnes and wife Linda, and William Jonathan Barnes, sisters, Catherine Woods, Dot Landreth and Judy McKnight, 15 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, numerous nieces, nephews, and adopted children.
