
Effie “Ms Ef” Hurban, age 82, resident of Columbus, died on Thursday, November 3, 2011. Funeral services are scheduled at the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus on Tuesday, November 8, 2011, 12:30 p.m. with Reverend Roger Bolin officiating. Interment will follow at Main Post Cemetery, Fort Benning, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, November 7, 2011 from 5-7 p.m. Mrs. Hurban, daughter of the late James Abram Atkins and Edna Salomi Holmes Atkins, was born February 17, 1929 in Eden, NC. She was a member of Draper Christian Church, Eden, NC and worked for the Georgia Unemployment Office for many years. Mrs. Hurban was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan Theodore Hurban; brothers and sisters, Dora, Daniel, Frank, Jason, Susie, James, Buddy, Inez, and John Wesley. She is survived by three daughters, Wanda K. Wright of Winston, GA, Jean Hurban of Columbus, and Penny (Jennifer) Hurban of Berkeley, CA; two sons, Fred (Gloria) Hurban of Virginia Beach, VA, and Eric Hurban of Columbus; one sister, Temple (Jim) Pulliam of Eden, NC; nine grandchildren, Stephanie (Joseph) Hoover, Kelly (Dustin) Hill, Jay Wright, James Wright, Ron (Cindy) Wright, Keith (Irene) Hurban, Kason (Caitlin) Wilkins, Kory (Tera) Wilkins, and Henry Hurban; twelve great-grandchildren; numerous nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
