

Efrain Atalig Manglona, Jr. of Columbus, GA passed away in his home on January 6, 2026 at the age of 63. Born in the city of Tamuning in the US Territory of Guam, Efrain grew up in south Columbus, GA. He attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church both in his youth and upon his return to Columbus. Efrain continued his faithful devotion to our Lord Jesus Christ throughout his lifetime.
From his childhood on Efrain could often be found with a fishing rod in hand with his family at his favorite fishing spots like Kings Pond on Fort Benning and the piers in Panama City, FL. A third parent to his siblings, Efrain often provided guidance for his brothers and sisters while his dad was deployed by the US Army. From a young age, Efrain distinguished himself with a strong moral character and his natural leadership abilities led him to excel at everything he pursued.
Efrain graduated among the top of the 1980 Class of Baker High School, earning a full scholarship and graduating from the prestigious West Point Military Academy. After completing his service in the US Army officer corps, Efrain enjoyed a long and successful career as a software engineer in the defense industry with cutting edge organizations including Raytheon, IBM, Boeing, and Lockhead Martin.
Efrain was proceeded in death by his beloved wife Jane-Marie, his parents Efrain Sr and Rosita, and youngest sister, Elaine, all with whom he joins now in heaven. He is survived by his step-son Sean-Paul and wife Paula, and his siblings, Rosita and husband Larry, Richard and wife Lisa, Ron and wife Kym, Albert, and numerous nephews and nieces.
In accordance with his wishes, Efrain’s final resting place will be the West Point Cemetery, West Point, NY beside his wife Jane-Marie.
All are welcome to join the family at Efrain’s memorial service to be held on Saturday, February 7th, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA. 31907 with a visitation for friends and family starting at 9:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Efrain’s memory may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
