Eloise Rose Waddell Kelly January 11, 1916 - September 9, 2010 COLUMBUS, GA— Eloise Rose Waddell Kelly, 94, of Columbus, GA, died Thursday, September 9, 2010 at Columbus Hospice House. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, with Dr. Buddy Cooper and Dr. Jimmy Elder officiating. There will be a private interment in Parkhill Cemetery for the family after the service. The family will receive friends Friday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Born on January 11, 1916, near Troy, AL, daughter of the late Forrest and Rotchie (Head) Rose, Eloise retired from the U.S. Postal Service as Personnel Assistant. A former member of First Baptist Church, she joined Hamp Stevens Methodist when she married Roysce Kelly in 1962. They later joined St. Paul Methodist Church. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, former Postmaster Roysce Kelly, a brother, Byron Rose, a sister, Julia Goodman, and a grandson, Glen Waddell. Survivors include her sister, Annie Merle Rose, her brothers Harold (Bettie) Rose and Donald (Mary Lizabeth) Rose, her daughter Elandra Waddell (Carl) Milburn and her son Andy (Vicki) Waddell; grandchildren Dan Milburn, David (Renita) Milburn, Dr. Mark (Jennifer) Milburn, Jennifer Waddell Delaney (Richard) Galbraith, and Glen's widow Stephanie; great grandchildren, Justin Milburn, Jessica Milburn Brandt (Andrew), Jordan Milburn, Elle Milburn, Hannah Milburn, James Delaney, Courtney Delaney and Jordan Waddell; numerous nieces and nephews and their children. Eloise had strong values, including love of God and country, hard work and resourcefulness. She worked tirelessly to direct and provide for her children, and always emphasized the importance of faith. She had a lifelong appreciation for the written word and for libraries, museums and schools of higher learning.
