CWO4 (Ret) Emory Roy Amerson, age 86, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Monday November 12, 2018. Roy was born May 21, 1932 in Twiggs, County, Georgia to Annie Belle Happolt Amerson and James Willie Amerson. CWO4 (Ret) Amerson served his country proudly for over 24 years, during which he was awarded: The Army Occupation Medal (Japan, Germany), United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal w/2 Bronze Stars, National Defense Service Medal w/1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Good Conduct Medal 3d Award, Vietnam Service Medal w/1 Silver Star and 1 Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal w/1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Vietnam Campaign Medal w60 Device, Bronze Star w/1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, and 6 Overseas Service Bars. He also served his family well as he was devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Roy loved fishing, golf, cooking, and an occasional trip to the casino. He taught his children to be honest, kind, and always do the right thing. Roy had very humble beginnings and CWO 4 (Ret) Amerson will always be remembered as a very generous, friendly, kind soul by all those who knew and loved him.
Other than his parents, CWO 4(Ret) Amerson is preceded in death by his beloved wife Keiko Amerson; five brothers, and two sisters. He is survived by his; son Emory Amerson, Jr.; daughters Orlene Bovaird and Gloria Workman; grandchildren Kimberly Custance, Michelle Reeves, Emily Workman, Olivia Amerson, great grandchildren Emerson Custance, Violet Custance, Walker Custance, Isaiah Workman and Kaydon Black; other family members and many friends.
CWO 4 (Ret) Amerson will be placed with his wife in a private Full Honors Ceremony at Fort Benning’s Main Post Cemetery.
