Eugene Evans

Mr. Eugene Harold Evans, age 75, passed away on September 10, 2011. Funeral services will be held at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd., Columbus, GA on Wednesday, September 14 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Jerry Speer and Mr. Evans' brother-in-law, Dr. Ron Case of Rock Hill, SC officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 12:00 PM until service time.

Mr. Evans was born in Johnson City, NY on August 8, 1936 to the late John and Winnifred Evans. He was a graduate of Messiah College in Grantham, PA. Mr. Evans enjoyed being around others and telling jokes. He always had a project going to occupy his spare time. Mr. Evans worked as a claims adjuster for State Farm and owned and operated Quality Carpet Cleaning Service in Dillsburg, PA. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be missed dearly.

Survivors include his devoted wife, M. Joyce Evans of Columbus; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Cristina Evans of Columbus; two daughters, Joy Evans of Waco, TX and Dr. Jill and George Van Horn of Redding, CA and four grandchildren, Sophia, Benjamin, Reagan and Walker.
