Eugene "Gene" D. Drawdy

HAMILTON, GEORGIA- SFC (Ret.) Eugene "Gene" D. Drawdy, age 83, passed away on February 9, 2011 at his residence. Graveside services will be held on Monday, February 14, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, AL, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd., Columbus. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 - 4:00 PM.

Mr. Drawdy was born on September 30, 1927 to the late Clarence Drawdy and Retha Buckles. He served in the United States Army for 23 years until his retirement at the rank of Sergeant First Class. Upon release from the military he also retired from Tom's Foods. Mr. Drawdy was a member of New Beginning Fellowship. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Drawdy.

Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Christa Drawdy of Hamilton; six children, JoAnn Cochran of Columbus, Rita Lachut of Hannibal, NY, Ralph Drawdy of Lanett, AL, Sissy Brady of Valley, AL, Robbie Drawdy of Hamilton and Mary Lou Bradshaw of Mary Ester, FL; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
