Throughout her life, Fern met each day with steady dedication and a generous spirit. She worked for many years at Carl Gregory Enterprises as a dealership controller, earning the respect of those around her through diligence, loyalty, and thoughtful care in all she did.
Fern’s life was anchored in devotion to her family and in a kindness that made others feel seen and valued. Married to James Wesley “Wes” Griffin, Fern loved everyone dearly, offering compassion and steadfast support with a quiet strength that never sought attention, yet was deeply felt.
She also found joy in the simple, enduring pleasures of life, including a love for horses that reflected her sense of adventure and appreciation for what is true and beautiful. Many will remember Fern for the prettiest smile—an unmistakable warmth—and an energy that could light up a room, leaving people comforted in her presence and grateful for her care.
Fern is survived by her husband, James Wesley “Wes” Griffin; children, Fernwood Piper (Kevin Piper) and Kevin Healey Griffin (Liz Griffin); and grandchildren, Chalyb Lenker (Sarah Beth Lenker), Skylar Piper, Frankie Griffin, Mary Griffin, and Ollie Griffin. She was preceded in death by her father, Andrew Williams Pitts, Jr.; her mother, Sarah Hamm Pitts; and her son, James Wesley Griffin, Jr.
Fern will be remembered as a beloved and cherished presence—devoted, kind-hearted, and compassionate—whose love and generosity will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
