A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 12th, 2022 at 11:00 AM in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary. Family will visit with friends at 10am, one hour prior to the service. Burial ceremony will follow the service in Parkhill Cemetery with Military Honors.
Mr. Sowers was born April 11, 1934 in York, Pennsylvania to the late Mildred Sowers and Firmen L. Sowers, Sr. He had a distinguished career in the United States Army for over 26 years. CSM Sowers was highly decorated during the Vietnam War for service with the Big Red 1 infantry division. He was very involved with OCS at Fort Benning. He was the proprietor of Angel Security providing security for the National Infantry Museum and home football games at Auburn University.
Mr. Sowers loved his family and enjoyed playing golf, poker and spending time teaching his grandchildren both. He attended services at Grace Baptist Church for over 40 years with his wife and family.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years Sandra Sowers; his children: Bob Sowers, Jerry Sowers, Frank Sowers, Terri (Steve) Crum, Kevin Daniels, Firmen (Svetlana) Sowers III, and Susan Garner; his grandchildren: Larry, Jesse, Joshua, Ashlea, Brendon, Lia, Sam, Aidan, Anna, Isabella; his great-granddaughter LyLian; sister Beatrice Witmer; sister-in-law Patricia Sowers; and numerous other family members. Mr. Sowers is preceded in death by other than his parents Mildred and Firmen Sowers Sr; his son Edward Sowers; brother George Sowers and his sister Dorothy Sowers.
