
Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at Wynnton United Methodist Church with Dr. Frank Parr and Reverend Cindy Bennett officiating. A private interment will follow the service. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at Wynnton United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Parker was born September 15, 1917 in Newville, Alabama, daughter of the late Jessie L. and Dollie Lisenby Money. She worked for many years at Swift Mills in the payroll department, and also at the David Rothschild Company as an administrative assistant. Mrs. Parker retired as the office manager for her stepson’s business, Dan Parker Realtors, and continued to keep his books until her death.
Mrs. Parker was also very involved at Wynnton United Methodist Church where she was a member for 55 years. She was an active member and past president of the Cofer Friendship Sunday School Class and a past president of the United Methodist Women. Mrs. Parker was very proud of her involvement with the United Methodist Women of the South Georgia Conference and held many offices within the organization.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Parker was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph D. Parker, Sr., two brothers, and two sisters. Survivors include his son, Dan Parker and his wife, Teri, of Columbus, Georgia; five grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and friends.
