Born December 18, 1943 to Opal (Lively) Walker and Floyd Wilbur Walker Sr., Floyd had a humble upbringing in Charleston, West Virginia. He enlisted in the U.S. Army at 18, where he bravely answered the call of duty by completing two tours in the Vietnam War. During his distinguished career, he was awarded the Army Achievement Medal, two Army Commendation Medals, two Meritorious Service Medals, and the Bronze Star Medal. Command Sergeant Major Walker gave 30 years of honorable service to his country before retiring to civilian life.
Floyd shared 63 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Ingrid (Glebe) Walker. After his military retirement they built a beautiful life together in Georgia, where he would happily live for the rest of his days. His hard work, discipline, and courage leave behind a legacy his entire family is proud of.
Floyd is survived by his dear wife Ingrid; his children, Jeffrey Walker and Sheila (Walker) Niusulu; his four grandchildren; and his six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, his cherished mother, and his brother.
A celebration of life with full military honors will be held at 2:00 PM on October 1, 2026 at Striffler Hamby in Columbus, Georgia. Family and friends are welcome to attend and celebrate Floyd's life.
