Frances W. McGowan

Columbus, GA- Frances Walker McGowan, 90, of Columbus, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, January 04, 2018, at St. Francis Hospital.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 7, 2018, at 2:00PM in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby with Rev. Tim Jones officiating. Family will visit with friends from 1:00PM until 2:00PM and after the service.

Frances Walker McGowan was born on January 25, 1927, in Troy, Alabama, to the late Anna Baggett Walker and Robert E. Lee Walker. Frances was married to Guy E. "Mac" McGowan. She was an active member of Britt David Baptist Church, where she attended the Sweet Spirit Sunday School Class. Frances enjoyed gardening, cooking, spending time with family and friends, and tending to the needs of others. For seventeen years, she and Mac volunteered with Carpenters for Christ, where Frances supervised the kitchen and cooked for working crews.

She leaves her legacy to her loving husband, Mac McGowan; her loving children: Linda (Larry) Williams, Kenneth (Sindi) McGowan, Michael McGowan and Mark (Paula) McGowan; ten grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.
