Anybody that knew Fred knows that he was a faithful fan of Alabama Crimson Tide football, and a long time Tide Pride member. He was a proud Alumni and believed in giving back to the University. Fred attended countless home games, and even attended several national championship games. On any given Saturday during football season he could be found at Bryant-Denny Stadium cheering on the Tide with his friends and family. Fred also served as President of the Columbus Quarterback Club.
Fred was predeceased in death by his parents Tom and Edna, and his sister Nell Chamberlain Woods. Fred is survived by his wife of 48 years Linda Hill Chamberlain. Fred was a proud uncle to his niece Meredith Woods Carpenter (Chris) and nephews Matt Lane (Ellen) and Mitchell Lane (Kristina). He was also very active in the lives of his nine great nieces and nephews: Mikayla, Hadley, Carter, Caleb, Eliza, Austin, Mary Ellen, Voncile and Victor. Fred was also survived by his sister-in-law Pat Lane (Larry) and brother-in-law Harold Hill (Kaye). There is a host of other special family members and friends that Fred was blessed to have and count on through the years.
