Hello family and love ones. It’s hard to believe our beloved Uncle Gene has been gone one year today.  I love and miss you Uncle Gene.  I miss your phone calls. I miss you calling me on Sundays so I could hear your choir sing and your Pastor preach. You loved your church and I so wanted to go with you one Sunday.. I hope to visit them one day. Thank goodness your children still stay in touch with us cousins. You have some amazing loving children.  I’m blessed to haven them as family. Again, we love and miss you Uncle Gene.

My Daddy was one of a kind. He was hardworking sometimes 4 jobs, serious, matter-of-fact, human encyclopedia.  He loved sports of all kinds especially Baseball and Football.  He loved his kids unconditionally and would do anything for us. He saw us every Sunday, no matter what.  We even worked on my High School Project doing our Family Tree for over 2 months every weekend and nights until we traced it back to Indian Princess Satira Keene of the Choctaw Indians.  I got an A+ on the Project and he was so proud of our work. 
I am going to miss our hour long phone calls just to discuss the latest news headlines or what was going on with my children and grandchildren.  He was always more concerned about us than himself.   Sometimes he would call just to let me hear a song he liked. He made you feel like you were next door and not in a different state. 
He was a wonderful goofy Daddy and I miss him so much, but will see him again. I love you Daddy 💝

Daddy was very special.  I am so very blessed to have had him in my life for as long as I have.  He passed down his smart “genes” to me and I am so grateful.  I was so proud of him as he could play anything and I do mean anything on the keyboard.  One of my fondest memories is when he used to take us to Mardi Gras each year when we were younger - He loved The Comic Cowboys - They were floats that had comical, political and crazy signs on them. 
Another memory was when he tried to teach me how to parallel park at Lad Stadium and I kept running over the Coke Cans - still can’t parallel park but he tried.

Thank you Lord for blessing us with an unique unforgettable “our” Uncle Gene.  I miss you calling me on Sundays while you were in church so I could hear your choir sing and your Pastor preach.  This bought jour to your heart. I miss your Mon-Fri morning calls on updates on the Dow and stocks. I’m going to miss you doing your Elvis impression singing Happy Birthday to me. You had an incredible memory of birthdays and dates. You were a walking encyclopedia on Presidents. Your passion in life was your children, family, and love for music. You were karoke king in the family and you knew all the words to songs and the artist at 79 years old. We loved hearing you play the piano.  Some people may know know you worked 4-jobs at one time for many years.  You enjoyed driving and traveling. There were only 3-states you had not been to.  Your love for the Braves and baseball will always be remembered. When you talked about your kids, your voice lit up. You loved them with all your heart and proud of each one. Thank you for having me visit in Aug. I enjoyed lunch at the Italian restaurant you picked out. We had so much fun and went back to your house and played music trivia on YouTube. Yes, you blew me out of the water. My last conversion w/ you was you had planned on living past 90 years old and we all knew you would, at least this is what we thought. You loved life! Again, we will all miss your calls, your voice was always so happy. I’ll miss you telling me about the news. I can’t forget you enjoyed bowling and on leagues for many years. We love and miss you Uncle Gene, Joyce, Sandra, Davey, Diane, and Bay Jane

Gene / Dad  will be greatly missed. I will never forget the first time Zachary took me to meet him, before we got married.  He asked me if I would take his name.  I thought that was so sweet.
He also had me pick any song out of a huge music book, then preceded to play it without reading the music. I was so impressed.
Then he asked me my birthday, and was able to tell me what day of the week  I was born. He had great talent, I loved him greatly.
I am lucky to be his Daughter-in-law.

There wasn’t a person who could recall numbers, facts, or figures like this man. He was a walking encyclopedia, and I was in awe of his knowledge. I spent many nights nearly 30 years ago, watching our beloved Braves baseball team with him. We would watch with great passion, and shared that love for our sport. He was truly a one of a kind person, and he will be sorely missed.

My Uncle Gean ment the world to me as an uncle. He was honest, giving and caring. He was this way with eveyone. He loved music and all types of artist. He was a good conversational list. He also loved telling jokes. My last conversation with him was about the Atlanta Braves winning the World Series this year. He was the Braves biggest fan. I'm so thankful he got to see them win ⚾
I loved and will miss my Uncle Gean, but I will never forget him 💜
