Gerald D. Jackson

Gerald D. Jackson, 77, passed away on March 30, 2013. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 in Parkhill Cemetery, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd., Columbus, GA. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.

Mr. Jackson was born July 29, 1935 in Columbus, GA to the late Walter Madison Jackson and Mildred Brookins Jackson. After high school, Mr. Jackson went on to receive three degrees from Troy University, Georgia State University and Auburn University. He was a school teacher for 27 years, before retiring. Mr. Jackson was a lover of music and played and taught piano professionally in the Columbus area. He was a kind, loving husband, father and friend who will be missed dearly.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Jackson of Columbus, GA; two sons, Bradley Jackson and wife, Alicia of Virginia Beach, VA and Brett Jackson and wife, Shannon of Dothan, AL; three grandchildren, Christopher, Sawyer and Sara Ann; a brother, Bobby Jackson and wife, Mary of Pensacola, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
