Gerenda McCullough, 66, of Smith Station, AL passed away Thursday, April 18, 2019 at her home. Funeral Services will be held at 5:00 pm Monday, April 22, 2019 in the St. Elmo Room of Striffler-Hamby, with Pastor D.L. Hammock officiating. The family will receive friends following the service from 6:00-8:00pm.
Mrs. McCullough was born December 9, 1952 in Columbus, GA, the daughter of Grady and Shelby Storey. She was a graduate of Jordan Vocational High School. She went on to marry Mr. Franklin “Joe” McCullough and they spent many cherished years together before his passing in 2010.
Gerenda brought life and happiness to any place; she could bring a smile or laugh to even the worst of times. She was easy to love and someone who brought comfort to any situation. Mrs. McCullough was a wonderful mother and grandmother to her four grandchildren. Gerenda enjoyed sewing, quilting, music, gardening, and laying out in the sun.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin “Joe” McCullough; father, Grady Melton Storey. Survivors include her daughter, Kimberly Apple (Zac); mother, Shelby Storey; four grandchildren, Hayden Apple, Sophie Apple, Kayleigh Thurman, and Lilly Apple; two brothers, Russell and Gerry Storey; and numerous other extended family members and friends. Arrangements are being entrusted to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd., Columbus, GA 31907.
