Gloria Jean Bass Hodge, of Smith Station, Alabama, passed away at her home on September 4, 2026 into the arms of her Savior. She was born on January 6, 1943, in Columbus, Georgia, to the late George Smith Bass and Mary Katherine Bass Williams.
Gloria was a loving mother and grandmother who cared deeply about her family. Her family was an important part of her life, and she will be remembered for the love and care she gave to those she held dear.
Gloria had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. Her infectious laughter could brighten a room, and she enjoyed a good joke. Her playful nature was a special part of who she was and will be fondly remembered by those who loved her.
Gloria was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Randy Hodge, whom she loved deeply. Randy was the love of her life for 27 years, and the love and commitment they shared remained a cherished part of Gloria's life. Her family finds comfort in thinking of them together again in Heaven.
Gloria was also preceded in death by two of her children, Donnie Pippin and Vicki Ann Pippin Goggins, and her grandson, Joseph “Joey”.
She is survived by her daughter, Tina Marie Caton (Roy); son, James G. Anderson III; and grandchildren: Joshua Weldon, Ricky Renfroe, Sommer Cherryhomes, Zachary Anderson, Taylor Caton, Troy Caton, and Tara Caton.
She is also survived by her brother, James Larry Bass (Jeanette). She was preceded in death by her siblings, Donald Bass, Mary Jeanette Griffith, and Cecil Lamar Bass.
Gloria is deeply loved by her family and will be greatly missed. Her memory will live on in the hearts of the family and friends who knew and loved her, and in the laughter, love, and memories she leaves behind.
A Graveside Funeral Service will be held Friday, September 11, 2026, at 11:00 AM in Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Rd., Columbus, GA 31907.
A visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the service at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, GA.
