Gregory Wayne White, of Cleveland, GA. formerly of Columbus, passed away on December 22, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on February 24, 1948, in Coleman, TX, to the late Leo White and Emma Ruth Clay White. Gregory was known for his hard-working and selfless nature, as well as his loyalty to family and community.
Gregory had a distinguished career as a retired Columbus Police Officer, serving as Command SGT for 37 years with the North Columbus precinct. He was also a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, having served honorably in Vietnam.
He is survived by his loving wife, Janet White, a daughter, Destiny Creel, a son, Cory White, stepchildren Bobby Waters, Jr., Jennifer Thackston, and Brandy L'Oste - Brown, as well as grandsons Clark White and Dominic Yanes.
A visitation for family and friends will be held at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary - Columbus, in the St. Elmo room, located at 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia, on Friday, December 26, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The funeral services will be in the Fisher Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Parkhill Cemetery.
