Griffin Danny Tate Jr.,"Grif", 46, died unexpectedly at his home on May 24, 2015, after hosting his annual Memorial Day cookout. He was born April 1, 1969, in Newnan,GA. He is survived by his mother, Pam Tate of Columbus; father Dr. Danny Tate (Mary) of Obion, TN; brother Owen Tate; sister Vanessa Tate, and grandmother, Marilyn Blackman.
Grif was a 1987 graduate of Shaw High School. He had worked at Sears, J.McDaniels, Ruby Tuesdays, and Stevie B's. He was an independent contractor for Fed Ex. Big Grif was known for his sense of humor, wry comments, wit, love of food (lasagna), a cold beer or two, cookouts around his pool, and good times with his many friends of 30 plus years.
Come share funny stories and happy memories of his life in the Mill Room of Striffler-Hamby, Macon Rd., from 6-8 PM on Friday, May 29, 2015. Grif enjoyed cats and wild birds. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to PAWS Humane of Columbus or to Berry College (GA)Eagle Cam Fund. Burial will be in Obion, TN.
