Haydn Howard Crosby of Columbus, Georgia went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at the age of 61 years of age after sustaining injuries from an automobile accident earlier that morning. Haydn was born to Glyn Howard & Phyllis Crosby on April 18, 1950 in Bristol, England. After growing up in Bristol, he lived in London, England, and Swansea, Wales. During his residency in London, he worked for the BBC, Foreign Currency Bureau, and Interpol/Scotland Yard among others over a 40 year career.
In the summer of 2005, Haydn met Cheryl Walding Tommey for the first time, while she was attending the wedding of her daughter, Amanda Tommey Terbush in Swansea, Wales. Haydn worked at the Grand Hotel where the Tommey’s stayed while in Wales. Shortly after her return to the United States, Cheryl and Haydn began writing to one another and what followed could only be described as a fairy-tale romance. After several years of hand-written letters, long-distance phone calls and visits to one another’s home countries, Haydn and Cheryl were engaged to be married.
Haydn and Cheryl were married on April 10, 2010 at the Upatoi United Methodist Church where she serves as Director of Music Ministries with hundreds of their closest friends and family. He enjoyed working with Valley Hospitality in their Houlihan’s Restaurant and Cannon Brew Pub locations as well as Publix. Haydn was recognized by all who knew him as a man of unparalleled integrity, humility, service and deep faith in Jesus Christ. Haydn enjoyed travel, music and gardening. He was most known for his deep love for his wife, Cheryl. Although their marriage was cut short by the tragedy of his untimely death, the love they shared endures. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
