Hazel Helen Gosnell Capps

COLUMBUS, GEORGIA- Hazel Helen Gosnell Capps, age 97, originally from Buncombe County, North Carolina, passed away October 6, 2021.

Graveside services will be held in Parkhill Cemetery at 1100 am, Monday, October 11, 2021, with Pastor Preston Parker officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd., Columbus. The family will greet friends on Monday morning from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Striffler-Hamby.

Hazel was born January 7, 1924, in Buncombe County, NC to the late Lattie Gosnell and Dema Rhymer Gosnell. She served her Lord, Jesus Christ as a devoted member of Victory Baptist Church in Columbus. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years MSG (Ret) James Hugh Capps I and six brothers and three sisters.

Survivors are her four sons, Jim and Dianna Capps of Tucker, GA, Bob Capps of Columbus, GA, Bill and Martha Capps of Columbus, GA and Greg and Connie Capps of Raeford, NC; thirteen grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews.
