A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at 11:00 AM in Fort Mitchell National Cemetery, Fort Mitchell, Alabama with Reverend Mike Reeves officiating.
Helen was born in Oxford, Mississippi on January 13, 1936. She was married to her first husband SFC James E. McKee, who was killed in action during the Vietnam War in 1969. After James’ death Helen went to college to support her young family. She was remarried to MSG (Ret) Lawrence “Larry” Frost. Helen traveled extensively as a military wife and worked for many years at Cobb Memorial Hospital and also in the cardiology department at Martin Army Hospital at Fort Benning, Georgia. Helen loved her family, her grandchildren were her universe. She loved a good conversation and she never met a stranger. Helen will be greatly missed by all who knew her and especially loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Agnes and Charles Underhill; her husbands James and Larry, and her granddaughter, Danielle Dowie.
Helen leaves her loving memory to be cherished by her daughters, Mary McKee Cannon and Cheryl McKee Dowie; her granddaughter, Dr. Kristin L. Cannon and her husband Dr. Ahmed Fadairo; her grandson Michael A. Cannon; her great granddaughters: Kaylee Dowie and Ameerah B. Fadairo; her brother, Charles R. Underhill; and her nephew, James Underhill; and a host of friends.
