Helen R. Vickers

A chapel service will be held at 3:00 PM, on Saturday, February 18, 2012, in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA, 31907 with Pastor Mark Sasser, from East Highland United Methodist Church officiating. Mrs. Vickers was a member at East Highlands, for many years, before she and Kay moved to California. The family will greet friends and family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Vickers was born October 26, 1926, in Columbus, GA, daughter of the late Sims Rumsey and Minnie Elizabeth Rumsey. She worked for Swift Mills on 6th avenue for over 40 years. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Vickers was preceded in death by her loving husband, Leonard Vickers; one sister, Laura Thornton; two brothers, Fred Varner and Leonard Waller. Survivors include two daughters, Kay Marlene Vickers and Carolyn Ferrell McCool and her husband Richard of Canyon Country, CA; two grandchildren, Tamara Kirk and her husband, Steve, and their children, Kaitlynn Rose and Steven Richard all of Agua Dulce, CA; and William Leonard McCool and his wife Jennifer, and their son, William Steven of Canyon Country, CA.; numerous nephews and nieces of AL, FL, GA and SC. The family would like to express our many thanks for the cards and prayers that have been sent to our family. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to East Highlands United Methodist Church, 2901 18th Avenue, Columbus, GA, 31901, in loving memory of our wonderful Mother, loving Grandmother and Great Grandmother and caring Aunt and Friend to all.
