

Trudy Wicker, 89, of Columbus, GA, peacefully entered eternal rest on December 12, 2023, at the home of her son. She was born on July 16, 1934, in the town of Effeldorf, Germany to the late Anton and Johanna Erk. Mrs. Wicker's life was a testament to her unwavering commitment to her faith, unwavering dedication to her family, and unwavering love for life.
She studied cosmetology at the L’Oreal School in Paris and was a dedicated and skilled beautician who brought joy and confidence to her clients as the owner of Jordan City Beauty Salon for 32 years.
A social and kind-hearted woman, Mrs. Wicker was devoted to her faith and her family. She was a charter member of St. Anne Catholic Church and actively participated in various ministries and volunteer work, including the Rosary Guild, Prayer Ministry, St. Anne Council of Catholic Women, and St. Anne Outreach.
Outside of her career and religious activities, Mrs. Wicker had a passion for gardening. She found solace and joy in tending to her plants and creating beautiful landscapes. Filled with azaleas and flowers of all kinds, her yard was often featured in the gardening section of the Ledger-Enquirer.
Mrs. Wicker is survived by her loving son, Roland Wicker (Janice) of Pine Mountain, and her nine grandchildren: Crystal Childs, Roland Anthony Wicker, Shannon George, Jacquie Jones, Rachel Scarborough, Jeromey Mahoney, Amanda Wicker, Caitlin Mahoney, and Grayden Wicker. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren: Brad Holmes, Dustin Holmes, Gracie Childs, Joscelyn Wicker, Thomas Findley, Gabriel Bowden, Henry George, Rylie Jones, Dacey Jones, Will Jones, Isaac Scarborough, Vivian Scarborough, Hunter Mahoney, Dawson Mahoney, Troy Mahoney, Tatum Wicker, River Damren, Athens Damren, Jaxson Simmons, Brandon Simmons, and Cobys Simmons. Mrs. Wicker was also blessed with two great-great-grandchildren, Paisley Holmes and Posie Holmes.
Mrs. Wicker was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Willie Wicker, her son William Wicker, and her daughter Toni Mahoney. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A visitation will be held from 4-6pm on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at Striffler-Hamby in Columbus, GA. A rosary will be said at 5:00pm during the visitation. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anne Catholic Church on Monday, December 18, 2023, at 10am. The Rite of Committal and burial will take place at Park Hill Cemetery immediately following the mass.
