I met Hilda when we were both in 8th grade at Baker High School, and we remained friends throughout high school.  After graduation, we lost touch, but I will always have special memories of her.  She had a way of finding humor in almost any situation so she kept us laughing.  I'm sorry I didn't learn of her death in time to attend her funeral, and my heart goes out to each member of her family.

We were besties in high school at BHS from 8th thru the 12th, but we first were  friends in the 2nd grade, where we traded shoes .. I got her majorette boots and she got my loafers and again in the 7th at Tillinghurst... unfortunately we lost touch after high School as life got in the way...and I so regret that!! I wish I had known how to reconnect  with her before we lost her!

I just learned of Hilda passing. I worked with Hilda a Gulf State Park, for several years . I loved her quick wits and her tell it like it attitude. most peoples didn't know how to take her at face value. She had a  kind heart once you got to know her. The fish men at the GSP Pier love her she would fry up their catch of the day and serve it up to them and some of the  park employee as well if she liked you , and her love of onions I never met anyone that loved onion like her, who would eat it  raw. She worked at several area of the GSP if there was a stove she was cooking a meal for us. Getting back to her kind heart she would buy her co worker a Christmas gift and she would always give you a birthday card and a misc. gift for your birthday. I really missed her after she retired. She and I would run into one another a the grocery store every once in a while. My deepest condolence for you all loss! She was one of a kind lady.

So sad to learn of Hilda’s passing, but I’m sure she’s in heaven picking wild flowers, checking newcomers in and spreading her quick wit and funny commentary on life’s craziness.   Never a dull day, it was a pleasure to be around her.  Locals and snowbirds alike got to see the “real” Hilda, she will forever be remembered at the State Park Campground as being one in a million.  She had a big heart under her sarcastic exterior, she was as proud as me for my daughter attending SCAD in Savannah to design shoes & purses.  I truly miss her and regret not keeping in touch the last few years.  God bless and Hilda I pray you  know how much you meant to me.  Hugs and prayers to all your family.   Diane
