

Imogene Jones Lindsay, resident of Covenant Woods Retirement Community, Columbus, Georgia, went to be with our Lord and Savior peacefully on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital. Funeral services are scheduled at Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, Columbus on Saturday, May 31, 2014, 3 p.m. with Dr. Dun Gordy and Reverend Ed Kvietkus officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service on Saturday, May 31, 2014 from 2-3 p.m.
Imogene was born in Prattville, Alabama to the late Clarence Monroe Jones and Minnie Riley Jones. Preceeding her in death was her beloved husband of 70 years, Shepherd Keith Lindsay, Sr.; brother, Donald Hugh Jones of Murphy, North Carolina; and grandson, Ronald M. Cannon, Jr. of Columbus, Georgia.
Imogene was always lovingly supportive of her husband and children. She was elected to serve as Georgia State President, NALC Auxilliary. She served as two term President of St. Elmo PTA, Secretary, 5th District PTA of Georgia; and made a lifetime member of National PTA. Shortly after graduating as outstanding student of Jordan Vocational High School, Imogene began a rewarding business career in Columbus, Georgia as personal secretary to Mr. George Swift, President, Muscogee Mills. She retired later as an officer of McClure Radio Stations. Imogene also served the Lord faithfully throughout the years as a member of the wonderful fellowship of Rose Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Jean Lindsay Giglio (Robert) of Opelika, Alabama; her son, S. Keith Lindsay, Jr. (Jayne) of Greensboro, Georgia; brother, James Lawrence Jones (Juanita) of Prattville, Alabama; and sister-in-law, Ouida P. Jones of Murphy, North Carolina. Also surviving their much loved Big Mother are many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by a host of family and friends.
