Randy was born in Columbus, Georgia to the late Dorothy Edwards Shumny and Jack Shumny. He graduated from Columbus High School in 1964. Randy faithfully served his country in the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War. Randy was a lifelong fan of the University of Georgia. He loved saltwater fishing and spending time with his family and friends. Jack was in construction by trade and owned and operated his own business for many years. Randy is preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Jack Shumny and his brother John W. “Billy” Shumny.
He is survived by his daughter, Jacque Shumny; his brother, Phillip E. Shumny; his niece Anna Skinner (William); and his great niece Poppy Skinner.
Family will visit with friends on Thursday, August 25, 2022 from 1:30 PM until 2:30 PM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road Columbus, Georgia 31907. A procession will follow the visitation into Parkhill Cemetery for a graveside service at 3:00 PM.
