James E. Coaxum Sr.

James Elliott Coaxum, Sr. was born in Groveland, Florida on April 18, 1960 to the late Ms. Pearlie Mae Lane and Mr. Steven Coaxum. He was eight of nine children. His sunset on March 28, 2024 in Columbus, Georgia.

James lived a blessed life. He graduated from Haines City High School, excelled at numerous sports such as track, wrestling, and football, and met his beloved wife, Jacquelyn Boose in 1978. Together they raised three children.

SFC (Ret.) James E. Coaxum honorably served 21 years in the United States Army working in the Infantry. He also served his family and friends with great love and support for a great many of years.

James was preceded in death by his parents; a motherly sister Ernestine Lane, brothers Lester Lane, Johnnie Lane, and Paul Coaxum, Sr.

He leaves his love and memories to be cherished by: wife, Jacquelyn Coaxum; daughters: Jamira Boone (Joseph) of Clarksville, TN and Jamekia Coaxum of Columbus, GA; son James Coaxum, Jr. of Columbus, GA; brothers: Bernard Lane (Florine), Marvin Frazier (Dorothy); sisters: Agnes Fearon-Sands and Betty Jean Lane; five grandchildren; one great grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends who loved him and will miss him dearly.

A wake will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia 31907. A Homegoing Celebration Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Victory Independent Baptist Church, 3150 N. Lumpkin Road, Columbus, Georgia 31903. Burial with Military Honors will be held at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery on Monday, April 15, 2024 at 1:30 PM Eastern Time.
