James Brown Hawkins, age 89, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on January 14, 2022. Family will visit with friends at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, January 18. Funeral services will be held at Pierce Chapel United Methodist Church at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, January 19 with a private interment following at Lakeview Cemetery.
James was born in Phenix City, Alabama on January 18, 1932 to the late, James and Jewell Hawkins. James was married for over 50 years to the love of his life, Jolene. An Engineer by trade, he enjoyed woodworking, drawing, painting and old English sports cars. James was a member of Pierce Chapel United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Hawkins; mother, Jewel Hawkins; wife, Charlie Jolene Harper Hawkins; and a sister, Dawn Adams.
Survivors include sons, Tom Hawkins, Joel Hawkins and his wife, Deborah; grandchildren, Michael Hawkins, Andrew Hawkins, Kathryn Hawkins, Bethany Hawkins, and Adele Hawkins; great grandchildren, Cheryl Hawkins, and James Hawkins.
