James Helms

James Helms, age 70, resident of Columbus, passed away on Monday, October 24, 2016 at Columbus Hospice. Funeral services are scheduled at Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, Columbus on Friday, October 28, 2016 at 3 p.m. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends before the service on Friday, October 28, 2016 from 1-3 p.m.

Mr. Helms, son of the late Reles Lafayette Helms and Cliffie Geraldine Wells Helms, was born November 8, 1945 in Opp, Alabama. He enjoyed spending time with photography and the outdoors. Mr. Helms is survived by his wife, Marietta Helms of Columbus; one daughter, Amber Dawn Helms Carter of Tallapoosa, Georgia; one son, Jared Helms of Alpharetta, Georgia; two sisters, Doris Helms Floyd (Jerrel) Griffin of Newnan, Georgia and Connie Helms Geter and her significant other James Caraway of Louisville, Alabama; one brother, Wyman Helms and his wife Donna of Ozark, Alabama; six grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
