Jimmy was born on March 27, 1961, to Kathleen Greene Sweeney and James Paul Sweeney, Sr. in Fort Monroe, Virgina. He later made his home in Columbus, Georgia, where he built a life centered around family, friends, hard work, and plenty of good times.
Jimmy was a dedicated and hard-working man, spending nearly 40 years working at AFLAC and serving as personal security for Dan Amos. Throughout his career, he earned the respect and friendship of many and took great pride in the work he did.
Those who knew Jimmy knew how much he loved having a good time. He enjoyed “all sports with a ball” but especially golf and bowling with the AFLAC Leagues, the Auburn Tigers, the Atlanta Falcons, and the Atlanta Braves. Jimmy was never afraid of a little competition when it came to poker nights, even if his kids and friends were sitting across the table. He looked forward to his yearly deep-sea fishing trips with his friends, going to the casino, and playing scratchers. Above all, Jimmy enjoyed spending quality time with the people he loved and making the most out of every moment.
He will be remembered by his children, Toni Killingsworth (Wesley) and James Sweeney III (Portia); his brother, Bruce Sweeney; sister, Linda Morris; grandchildren, Kaleb Theriault, Caleb Killingsworth, Kinsley Elliot, and Athens Killingsworth; and his great-grandchildren, Alexandrea Sweeney, Francis Sweeney, Trent Sweeney, and Maddison Sweeney. Jimmy is preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Garner Sweeney.
